MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG WM3600HWA

The exact LG WM3600HWA manual gives ten-cycle white-washer diagnostics, including water-level PF and vibration-sensor vS.

The ten-cycle WM3600HWA, its control and its manual

The white LG WM3600HWA is a 4.5-cubic-foot front loader. Its exact product page links a one-page specification with ten programs and nine options. That matters when reading the 60-page English owner manual: the cover names WM3600H*A, and the rendered control page shows a dial with Normal, Heavy Duty, Bedding, Allergiene, Tub Clean, Delicates, Perm. Press, Speed Wash, Rinse+Spin and Downloaded. The manual is therefore applicable to this SKU, and the exact panel supports those ten choices. The white variant has a four-tray dispenser and Wi-Fi. TurboWash 360 is not among its specified features or visible buttons.

The panel has an LED time-and-status window rather than a text touchscreen. When a load begins, the estimate may change after sensing. Three dashes mean time has not yet been calculated. A lock icon lights while the door is secured, a Wi-Fi icon marks connection, and a Cold Wash icon identifies that chosen option. These are ordinary states. Fault interpretation begins with the table on pages 42–44. The letters there must be read for this specific manual; PF, in particular, has a different meaning from the PF message in some other LG washer manuals.

What this washer does during a cycle

The ten-program list puts Allergiene and Bedding beside practical routines such as Rinse+Spin. Bedding is designed for bulky articles that need space to move; mixing those pieces with ordinary clothing defeats the guide's loading advice. The Speed Wash description limits its example to two or three lightly soiled garments under three pounds and calls for very little detergent. Allergiene incorporates steam automatically and uses high temperature, so delicate or heat-sensitive textiles do not belong in it. The manual also says Steam and Cold Wash cannot be selected together. If an option is unavailable for a chosen cycle, the panel gives a double chime and leaves its LED off.

The four-tray dispenser is manually filled. Its compartments handle pre-wash, main wash, bleach and softener. The owner guide explains that powder in the main-wash compartment requires the liquid-detergent insert to be removed. A single-use pack belongs in the drum before laundry is loaded, not in the drawer. The washer is designed for HE detergent, and the manual advises less product for small loads, soft water or light soil. Too much can leave clothing residue and generate Sud. This relationship is worth checking before treating a foamy, stopped spin as a component fault.

Filling and draining: IE versus OE

IE on page 42 means the washer is not filling as expected. Open supply taps fully and inspect both inlet hoses for pinches or kinks. The table also names dirty inlet screens, poor household water pressure and leak-limiting hoses that can shut flow off by mistake. The maintenance section says IE may blink when water pressure is low or an inlet filter is clogged. It instructs the owner to switch the machine off, unplug it, shut the taps and clean the small valve screens, then reinstall them. Running without those screens risks a valve problem or leak. This is a supply-side diagnosis, not a reason to take apart the pump.

OE is the outlet-side message on page 43. The drain hose may be blocked or bent; its end must be below 96 inches measured from the machine's bottom. The separate pump-filter directions link a blinking OE to dirt in that filter. Before opening it, unplug the washer and drain residual water using the small service hose into a container. Clean the filter and refit its plug and cover securely. The guide warns that opening a filter while water remains in the drum can flood the floor. Treat IE and OE as two distinct paths even if both appear as a cycle that has stopped with water present.

Load, door, motor and Sud messages

UE identifies an unbalanced load. A few items may be too small to distribute, heavy articles may be mixed with much lighter ones, or a load may be tangled. Add compatible pieces or redistribute them once the door can be opened. The dE group—dE, dE1, dE2 and dE4 in the rendered row—reports a door that has not latched properly. Close it and, if the code persists, disconnect power and call service as the guide directs. A lit lock icon during a normal cycle is not a dE message.

LE means the motor has stopped with a lock error. LG's table permits a 30-minute rest followed by a retry, then service if LE remains. Sud instead flags excessive detergent foam. Stop adding detergent, turn the machine off and on, and run Rinse+Spin according to the manual. Excess foam can cause the washer to pause spinning to help avoid leakage. A normal drain-pump hum is listed separately in the noise table. Matching the displayed letters to these different causes prevents unnecessary work on the drain hose when the true issue is loading or detergent.

PF is a water-level fault here; vS is a vibration sensor fault

The WM3600H*A manual explicitly labels PF as WATER LEVEL SENSOR ERROR. Its text says the sensed level is too low or too high for the load and advises unplugging for 60 minutes, retrying and calling service if the message remains. PE is also a pressure or water-level sensor error, but its action is more urgent: close the taps, unplug and call. FE is an overfill attributed to a faulty water valve and calls for the same shutdown. tE concerns the temperature sensor or control; LE addresses the motor. The extra row on page 44 displays vS for a malfunctioning vibration sensor and directs the owner to service. These exact definitions should govern this washer, even if an online list assigns PF to a power outage for a different model.

FF indicates a frozen inlet hose, drain hose or drain pump and points to the cold-weather procedure. CL is Control Lock, while tcL requests or runs Tub Clean; the manual expressly says tcL is not an error. A monthly empty-drum Tub Clean, drying the door seal after washing and cleaning the detergent drawer once or twice a month are regular care rather than fault resets. For IE and OE, use the appropriate inlet or pump-filter instructions. For recurring PF, PE, FE, tE or vS, stop at the owner's prescribed steps and arrange service with the exact code and model number recorded.
