MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG LRSOS2706S
LG LRSOS2706S has a side-by-side layout, UVnano dispenser and two distinct ice systems; its owner explains OFF retail mode, filter, Lock and Sb indications.
Identify the side-by-side layout
LRSOS2706S is LG's stainless finish member of the LRSOS2706 side-by-side line, and its own specification assigns 27.1 cubic feet across a 17.50-cubic-foot fresh-food compartment and a 9.60-cubic-foot freezer. Those figures describe the two tall compartments, not a French-door refrigerator with a bottom freezer drawer. The sheet lists four glass shelves and two drawers on the freezer side. Check the full suffix on the rating label before using this page, since the family owner's manual also names LRSVS2706 and LHSXS2706 variants.
The large dark panel on the refrigerator door is edge-to-edge InstaView glass, while the other door carries the water and ice dispenser. LG says two knocks illuminate the glass and that its light switches off after ten seconds; it will not activate with a door open or while ice is being dispensed. This is a viewing feature, not a cooling indicator. The flat doors and pocket handles also make this model visually different from the manufacturer's closely related Door-in-Door version. The exact spec and the owner's cover together establish which features and instructions belong here.
Follow water and both ice systems
The exact LRSOS2706S specification confirms a Smooth Touch dispenser with UVnano, in-door SpacePlus ice and a second freezer maker for Craft Ice. On the dispenser, select cubed ice, water or crushed ice; the shared manual illustrates two possible button layouts, so identify the icons on your actual panel. The dispenser will not operate while either refrigerator door is open. If it seems unresponsive with a door ajar, close the door before treating the symptom as a malfunction. UVnano concerns the water outlet, not an error code or a replacement for water-filter maintenance.
Craft Ice has a separate 3 ICE, 6 ICE and OFF selection. The owner's manual says 3 ICE favors clearer round pieces while 6 ICE favors greater quantity; OFF in this menu turns off that ice maker only. It is different from the large OFF display discussed below, which stops cooling. LG notes that a newly installed Craft Ice maker can take roughly 48 hours to begin production and that early pieces may not yet be round or clear. The manual also asks owners to discard the first bin of conventional ice and flush the dispenser after installation or long disuse.
Read the control-panel messages
The interior digital display shows set temperatures, not measurements of the food or of the air at that instant. Its nominal targets are 37 °F for the refrigerator and 0 °F for the freezer. A warmer actual compartment therefore cannot be diagnosed from the displayed setpoint alone. The exact specification confirms a door alarm, child lock and electronic controls; the family manual explains that Lock disables the other display buttons. If buttons appear dead, check for the Lock indicator and use the manual's three-second unlock action before assuming that the controls have failed.
A large OFF message with lights or controls still operating has a specific meaning: LG's retail Display Mode has disabled cooling in both compartments. The owner FAQ repeats this distinction and gives the exit sequence: open a refrigerator door, hold Refrigerator, and press Ice Plus three times; a beep and temperature settings indicate deactivation. The small OFF choice inside the Craft Ice menu has another meaning and must not be confused with this cooling state. If the panel instead shows Sb, the manual identifies Sabbath Mode; this mode changes alarms and disables the dispenser and InstaView on applicable units.
Maintain the dispenser without conflating reminders
The Replace Filter icon is a water-cartridge reminder, not a fault code for the compressor. LRSOS2706S's exact sheet names the LT1000P water filter, and the owner instructions call for replacement around six months, when the indicator lights, or when dispenser output drops. The cartridge sits behind a cover inside the fresh-food compartment. After fitting it, hold Water Filter for three seconds to clear the reminder. Resetting the light without changing an exhausted cartridge only clears a timer or status; it does not restore flow or filtration.
After a new filter or initial water connection, the manual directs owners to dispense 2.5 gallons, using 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off rather than one continuous run. Water supply pressure is specified at 20–120 psi, and the appliance requires its own grounded 115 V, 60 Hz supply. These installation conditions matter when interpreting weak dispensing or delayed ice production. The UV Self Care function runs at the outlet for ten minutes each hour, according to the shared control instructions; the exact spec confirms the UVnano dispenser on this SKU, but the UV routine does not replace flushing or a compatible water cartridge.
Distinguish modes from a breakdown
Ice Plus is a temporary production setting, not a diagnostic message. The control instructions say its indicator lights during a 24-hour increase in ice-making and freezing capacity, then shuts off automatically. The Wi-Fi indicator likewise reports network connection status: it blinks during pairing and stays lit after connection. Neither light means a failed cooling component. The exact sheet lists Wi-Fi and Sabbath support for LRSOS2706S, which is why those shared manual sections are relevant; the guide's other variant-only controls should not be assumed present merely because they appear nearby.
The owner's FAQ also describes ordinary conditions that could be mistaken for faults. A buzz can occur when the ice maker is on without a connected water supply; a Craft Ice tray may look slightly tilted as part of its freezing cycle. These observations should be checked against the water hookup and the selected ice mode. If the appliance is powered but warm, inspect the cooling-wide OFF Display Mode first; if it is cooling normally, read a water-filter light, Lock icon, Sb, or Craft Ice OFF as the distinct status each one represents. The manual does not provide a numeric fault-code table for this SKU.
