MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: LG LDTS5552S
LG LDTS5552S: exact code table, top display and maintenance guidance.
Check the exact LDTS5552S identity
LDTS5552S is the PrintProof stainless version of this LG top-control dishwasher. The official builder sheet names the S finish separately from the D black-stainless variant, while the owner booklet prints the broader LDTS555** family on its cover. Reading those two documents together matters: the family manual provides operating and diagnostic instructions, and the exact specification ties them to the machine sold under this suffix. The spec describes fifteen place settings, a 46 dBA rating, a NeveRust stainless tub, a bar handle and a fully integrated panel along the door's top edge. It also lists a third rack and a height-adjustable upper rack. Those features distinguish this unit from LG models with a floor-projected countdown or an automatically opening door, so a photo of the control edge and the model label is useful before relying on an online code list.
Read the panel before assuming a fault
The three-digit display normally shows estimated cycle time, then the time remaining while washing. When Delay Start is selected, it shows hours instead. The rinse-aid icon asks for a refill; the Machine Clean icon flashes after thirty cycles. Neither is one of the error messages in the troubleshooting table. The quick-start instructions say a flashing white light with a tone can mean START was pressed but the door was not closed within four seconds. At a successful finish the display reads ENd until the door is opened or POWER is pressed. The specification also identifies three SignaLight cycle indicator lights. Record the exact letters, their timing and the light color before resetting the unit. A code on a stopped machine deserves a different response from a reminder during normal operation.
The programs explain some apparently odd behavior
Auto adjusts to the load, Heavy targets hardened soil, and Delicate serves fragile items. Refresh warms dishes without detergent, whereas Rinse wets dishes that will be washed later and also omits detergent. Turbo and Express shorten washing but the manual says neither includes a drying phase by itself; Extra Dry or Night Dry can improve the result when available. The Download Cycle can show P1, P2, P3 or P4, which LG expressly identifies as the selected program, not a fault. Dual Zone gives the lower rack stronger spray than the upper, and Half Load can select one rack for a small load. These details matter during diagnosis: a damp load after Turbo does not prove a heater failure, and a P-number on the display is not the same as IE or OE.
Separate inlet, drain and foam errors
IE means that water is not entering as expected. LG tells the owner to check the supply and an accessible inlet hose for a kink, blockage or freezing; installation guidance also associates IE with a pinched supply line. OE points to drainage. Inspect the visible drain-hose route, external air gap or disposal and the removable filters before arranging service, following the manual's directions rather than opening electrical parts. The bE entry is more unusual: excessive suds from hand-washing liquid or very foamy food can trigger it, and an unlevel machine is another listed cause. Automatic-dishwasher detergent and proper leveling are therefore relevant checks. The manual's filter procedure calls for cleaning after each load for best performance, and its Machine Clean program is for an empty tub, which helps prevent residue from obscuring a simpler drainage issue.
Treat leakage and internal component messages differently
AE is the water-leakage message. LG instructs the owner to close the dishwasher's water supply and contact its information center; the appliance may sound an alert and run the drain pump intermittently until the cause is resolved. FE denotes excessive incoming water and is also a contact-LG case. The remaining table entries do not invite an owner to dismantle the machine: HE identifies the heater circuit, tE the water-temperature sensor, LE the wash motor, and NE the Vario motor. Those meanings come from the LDTS555** owner pages, not from a generic two-letter list. Write down the exact capitalization and take a clear photo if the display is fleeting. After basic external checks, persistent motor, heating or water-level messages warrant manufacturer service rather than speculative part replacement.
Use the manual's maintenance path
The three-stage filtration system and three physical spray-arm positions listed in the builder sheet give a sensible maintenance route when cleaning deteriorates. The manual describes removing the lower rack, turning the inner filter counterclockwise, rinsing the filters with a soft brush and locking the assembly back until it clicks. It recommends looking for blocked spray holes regularly, without forcing the rotating lower arm. For residue or odor, Machine Clean runs empty; the booklet gives a citric-acid quantity and says to leave ordinary dishwasher detergent out of that cleaning cycle. Rinse aid supports drying, and its dispenser has five settings from L0 through L4. A higher setting can help hard-water spotting, while an excessively high setting can foam. That link between dosage, foam and bE makes the dispenser setting part of a careful diagnosis.
Keep setup evidence with the code
The exact builder sheet places this model in a standard 24-inch opening and lists a 120 V, 60 Hz, 15 A electrical requirement. Both the spec and family manual specify 20–80 psi supply pressure and inlet water at 120–149 °F. Those values are context for an installer or technician; they do not justify bypassing safety procedures to test a live appliance. If IE or OE appears after a recent installation, mention the water valve, hose routing and disposal knockout-plug work that was performed. If the screen reads CL, the manual calls it Control Lock and gives the Half Load plus Energy Saver key combination; L0–L4 indicate rinse-aid settings, and test-mode strings are also explicitly nonerrors. Keeping these normal states out of a fault report helps LG or a repairer focus on a real displayed message.
