MODEL OVERVIEW

About this model: LG DLEX4200W

LG DLEX4200W is a white 7.4-cu-ft TurboSteam electric dryer with official tE, PS, Hs and d80/d90/d95 diagnostic messages.

Identify the white TurboSteam dryer

The DLEX4200W is the white electric member of LG's DLEX4200 dryer range, identified by UPC 048231028417 in LG's own specification. It has a 7.4 cubic foot drum and fourteen named programs. The specification pairs the white dryer with washer WM4200HWA, which is useful when matching a laundry set or checking that a document describes the correct appliance. The gas DLGX4201 and black steel DLEX4200B appear on the same sheet but have different product numbers.

This version uses front electronic controls, a program dial and an LED time display. The drawing on page 34 of the support-linked owner manual shows Steam Sanitary, Steam Fresh, Small Load and a Downloaded position, so its controls can be checked against the appliance before interpreting a displayed message. LG gives a 27 inch width, 39 inch height and 30 1/8 inch closed depth; opening the door needs 51 3/8 inches. Electric service is 240 volts and 30 amps. Those installation details matter when a power-related message appears.

Choose steam modes with care

TurboSteam is an actual feature of this electric SKU, rather than a possibility listed for another dryer in the family manual. Steam Sanitary uses steam to reduce bacteria and has a 31 minute default; Steam Fresh instead targets wrinkles and odors in previously dry clothes. Steam Fresh presents an unusual display: More Time and Less Time select an item count, and bIG denotes a large article such as a comforter. That bIG indication is a load-size choice, not a broken sensor or a fault code.

The steam functions have practical limits. LG warns against using them with easily damaged materials such as wool or silk, and the steam nozzle and door may be hot. The TurboSteam option cannot run with Energy Saver. Reduce Static adds steam late in a compatible cycle, while Wrinkle Care periodically tumbles the finished load for up to three hours. A user who sees the drum moving after the main drying stage should check whether Wrinkle Care was selected before assuming the control board restarted unexpectedly.

Read sensor, network and reminder states

Sensor Dry compares moisture in clothing with moisture in the surrounding air and adjusts the remaining time. The panel also has an AI indicator for its Normal cycle, and LG's exact specification lists AI Fabric Sensor with Smart Pairing. These are operating features, not diagnoses. An estimated time that shifts during Sensor Dry can be expected as the machine recalculates. By contrast, a temperature or humidity sensor code in the diagnostic tables points to a component fault and deserves a different response.

The ThinQ connection can monitor a cycle, allow remote start after the dryer is prepared, and store one downloaded specialty cycle at a time. A Wi-Fi symbol indicates a connection; it does not establish that a drying problem has been fixed. At the start of each cycle, Clean Filter lights as a routine reminder and turns off after Start/Pause. Flow Sense has a separate purpose: it alerts when the exhaust path restricts airflow. Reading those two nearby indicators as different conditions prevents an unnecessary service call for a normal reminder.

Separate a failed sensor from a blocked exhaust

The installation test is particularly helpful because its messages have a different context. A successful activation displays 1Ns, while ENd marks completion. Page 29 gives Hs as a humidity-sensor failure during that test and instructs the owner to switch off and seek service. It also lists electric supply codes; the gas-only GAs entry does not describe this electric model. The test should use an empty, cool drum and should not be interrupted, since the manual says interruptions may make the result inaccurate.

During ordinary troubleshooting, page 50 assigns tE1 through tE7 to a temperature-sensor failure and says to turn the dryer off and call for service. PS points to an incorrectly connected power cord and directs attention to the terminal block. d80, d90 and d95 belong to the exhaust route: a long duct, excessive bends or a blockage restricts airflow. LG warns against continuing with a severely restricted exhaust until it has been cleaned or repaired. These codes lead to distinct checks; resetting a cycle alone would not correct wiring or ducting.

Keep the vent clear and investigate persistent alerts

Flow Sense has its own indicator on this exact model. A four-bar indication while drying points to reduced airflow; check the wall duct, outside hood and lint buildup rather than treating it as a clothing-care setting. LG says to clean the lint filter after every cycle, inspect ductwork monthly and clean it at least once a year. If a filter has fabric-softener residue, wash it in warm soapy water and let it dry fully before reinstalling it. Never run the dryer with the filter removed.

The Flow Sense light can remain after a blockage has been cleared because the system needs several consecutive cycles to confirm better performance. The manual calls for service if it remains active for more than five cycles after the restriction is removed. For another persistent problem, LG's audible Smart Diagnosis uses a phone near the Power button while Temp is held for at least three seconds. Record the actual code and operating stage first. The reversible door and four-way electric venting offer installation flexibility, but any change to the exhaust path should preserve the manual's airflow requirements; Time Dry can be set in ten minute steps from 20 to 60 minutes for a controlled check.
