MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE JSP46DPWW
GE JSP46DPWW has a radiant glass cooktop with bridge and warming zone plus a convection oven; its linked guide documents an F-pattern oven function error.
Identify the JSP46 control combination
JSP46DPWW is a 30-inch CleanDesign slide-in electric range with a 4.10-cubic-foot oven and a white-patterned black glass-ceramic top. GE's exact model specification lists five ribbon elements, a left bridge, a central warming zone, upfront glass-touch oven control, True European Convection with Precise Air, temperature probe, Proof and Warm modes, self-clean and a storage drawer. Its linked 80-page manual is headed for Quick Set V and VI electric ranges rather than naming JSP46 on the cover. The connection is supported by the radiant surface pages six and seven and the page-ten oven-control list: bridge and warming-zone directions occur alongside convection, PROBE, PROOF and WARM pads confirmed for this exact SKU. The guide also describes optional controls. Its removable oven-floor illustration on page thirty-two must not be taken as JSP46 hardware, because GE specifies hidden bake for this model.
Read an F before resetting power
If the electronic oven display flashes F followed by a number or letter, the page-thirty-five troubleshooting table calls it a function error. Write down every displayed character, disconnect all power to the range for at least thirty seconds, reconnect, and arrange service if the function error recurs. The owner guide does not map the suffix to a failed board, probe or element. Several display changes are normal or have their own checks. Holding 9 and 0 together for three seconds produces LOC ON for a locked oven touchpad; it prevents accidental selections, not a heating failure. LOCKED can flash after choosing self-clean with the door open, while an already-locked hot oven remains closed until it cools. A blinking clock after a power cut calls for setting the time again. A hot-surface lamp may remain on after a cooktop zone is turned off; that concerns residual heat, not the oven F pattern.
Use bridge, dual ring and warming zone
The five radiant ribbons are arranged for cookware choice. GE specifies an 800-watt bridge between the left-front and left-rear elements, giving 4,400 watts combined when used as described; that connects a long vessel across two circular zones. The right-front 9/6-inch dual element can deliver 3,000 watts, and the right rear is 1,500 watts. At the rear center, a separate 120-watt warming zone has low, medium and high selections for already-hot food; the manual displays WARMER HOT ON for it and warns against heating cold food there. Unlike induction, these ribbons warm the glass itself. A temperature limiter may cycle them when a pan boils dry, is off-center or lacks a flat bottom. Four hot-surface lamps are specified, and the manual says a lamp can stay lit until the surface cools to roughly 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Select a flat, clean pan rather than forcing higher heat through a warped base.
Bake with convection and a probe
The oven combines conventional electric elements with convection bake and roast modes. Its exact specifications include three racks, seven rack positions, a hidden six-pass bake element, a six-pass broiler and Auto Recipe Conversion. The guide says convection bake reduces a regular recipe's selected temperature by about 25 degrees Fahrenheit automatically when that feature is on. Leave space around trays for the fan to move air; fan cycling and some clicking are described as normal. The temperature probe has a separate target: insert it fully into food, plug it into the cavity outlet and respond when the display asks Set Probe. Do not leave it installed during broil or self-clean. Proof warms yeast dough, whereas Warm keeps cooked food ready; neither is the small cooktop warming zone. The removable full-width drawer stores utensils and is not identified as a powered warming drawer.
Preserve ceramic glass and self-clean hardware
The black glass demands care even when the oven is working properly. Page eight warns that a radiant unit may cycle while regulating temperature, and cookware dragged over the surface can leave marks or scratches. Let ordinary residue cool, use a flat-bottomed pan next time and clean with the specified ceramic cream and pad. Sugary spills or melted plastic require the manual's prompt hot-surface procedure using protection and a suitable scraper because pitting can become permanent. Before self-clean, remove probe, pans and foil, wipe heavy grease, shut the door and allow the automatic lock to engage. Do not force it until LOCKED clears after cooling. Exact JSP46 data describe hidden bake, so avoid a generic instruction to remove an oven floor. These distinctions help separate glass damage, normal element cycling, lock status and a real electronic F error.
