MODEL OVERVIEW
About this model: GE GSD5700GCC
GE GSD5700GCC is a bisque Clean Sensor dishwasher with six status lights. Its GSD5700 manual panel and signal table explain missing Sensing and distinct Rinsing and Drying alarms.
Locate the GSD5700 controls
The exact GE GSD5700GCC listing identifies a bisque, 24-inch built-in dishwasher with eleven electronic touchpads, six cycle-progress lights, last-cycle memory and a Clean Sensor. The PDF linked from that listing names the GSD5700 series on its cover. On page four it even labels one control drawing for GSD5400, GSD5600 and GSD5700, so there is a more precise panel reference than a generic list of family features. The sales page says Light Wash and Power Pre-Soak with Heat On; the family drawing instead labels a Speed Wash key and shows a Sani Wash key. These labels may reflect sales and control variations. Inspect the installed GCC panel and avoid inventing an extra button from either source. Its actual six-light status column is the important match to the diagnostic table.
Distinguish sensor operation from cycle choice
The manual explains that Sensing appears during Normal and Pots & Pans when CleanSensor assesses soil and decides whether another prewash is needed. It need not remain on for the whole program, and it is not expected in every cycle. The same page says Power Presoak must be selected before start and adds sixteen minutes; Speed Dry can add twenty-three minutes to Normal in the illustrated family setup. GE lists two-, four- and eight-hour delayed start for this exact product. A long elapsed time can therefore come from a delay, soil sensing or an added option rather than a malfunction. The GSD5700GCC page also describes two plastic utility shelves and fold-down tines in the lower rack. Those physical details help distinguish the installed machine when the manual covers several nearby series.
Follow the four status-light rows
Page six separates four status rows. If Sensing never appears in the early part of Normal or Pots & Pans, the manual calls it CleanSensor Error; the dishwasher may continue without sensor input, but GE advises service. Washing flashing after Start/Reset is normal draining and reset; allow up to ninety seconds. Rinsing flashing with beeps is Control Error: silence the sound with Start/Reset, turn the breaker off for ten seconds, restore power and request service if Rinsing continues flashing. Drying flashing with beeps is labeled Control or Sequence Switch Error; the instruction is to let Start/Reset attempt a reset, restart the wash and seek service if it recurs. These are literal indicator patterns, not two-digit numeric codes. Record the lamp and beeps separately.
Examine wash quality before assuming an alarm
When dishes come out poorly washed without those light-and-beep combinations, first check conditions the manual actually names. Incoming water should be between 120 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit, measurable at the nearest hot faucet. The manual also cautions against hand dish detergent because excess suds can escape the dishwasher and undermine cleaning. On this exact model GE lists self-cleaning triple filtration, a Piranha disposer, a single-cover silverware basket and QuietPower II Plus. The rack layout matters: put small utensils in the basket and avoid blocking spray paths with large cookware around the fold-down tines. Clean Sensor does not override an unsuitable load, incorrect detergent or cold supply water. Treat those observations as a wash-performance investigation; reserve the fault-table actions for their specified lamp behavior.
